“Could I let go of being so smart and allow it to be other than what I think it is?”
Graduating from American Intercontinental University in September 2007 with a 3.14 GPA, Jerry White completed college with a Bachelors in Fine Arts with his focus being in Visual Communication. Afterwards, he worked as a freelance graphic/web designer for a few month before working for AT&T in their interactive department. During this career move, Jerry worked his way from being a web consultant to being one of the companies most trusted web designers as he handle accounts that spent well over 100K a month on ads and web based packages. Spending a little over 5 years with AT&T, the department Jerry worked with branched out became YP.com where Jerry became a lead UX / UI designer for the company for 2 years which even gain accolades from company CEO David Krantz all before the company started to be outsourced 2016.
During this time, Jerry White ended up building a entertainment site called WhyCauseICan.com which grew to be one of Atlanta’s most diverse music site. Even though, he was able to be around many successful people of high statuses and got to see much of the behind the scenes of the glitz and glam, the entertainment world still didn’t fulfill the much needed self-purpose in his life.
Taking some time out for himself and looking for information that pertained to his mental health, he came to realize that the resources on this topic was very scarce for black men and men in general. One thing that was instilled in Jerry as a young boy was “If no one has created it, then create it”. In 2018, That was what he did as he created SIRenityToday.com within one year, he gained over 25,000 organic followers and allowed a safe space for fellow males to be able to heard all while giving advice on how to thrive within the world.
Jerry’s compassion and empathy for people is one thing that sets him apart from others. While working with others, he looks to understand each persons opinions so that the best solutions can done. While growing up (and sometimes today, LOL!) my mom would always tell me, “Could I let go of being so smart and allow it to be other than what I think it is?” That quote from her has helped throughout my career to understand that not all solutions are known, but if you give other things a chance you might just find a better way than you thought.
